This tutorial will show you how to Disable the Preview Pane, requiring you to double click into each message to open it instead of seeing the message on the right.
Step 1: Go into Settings from the More dropdown menu.
Step 2: In the Webmail tile
From the Preview Pane dropdown, select None
Step 3: Click Save
